Dragan Sremec is a graduate of the Zagreb Academy of Music, where he was taught by Josip Nochta. He also graduated in Ensemble Conducting (taught by Igor Gjadrov). He then received a scholarship from the French government to study with Daniel Deffayet and a Fulbright scholarship to study with Eugene Rousseau at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

As a soloist he won the Darko Lukić Prize and a number of other important competitions in the former Yugoslavia and he also won a number of awards with the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet.

He has performed as a soloist all over the world, including in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Russia, the USA, and Italy. He has also appeared with many renowned orchestras, groups, ensembles, and soloists.

Dragan Sremec is the founder of the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet. For some years now he has also been principal saxophonist of both the Zagreb Philharmonic and the Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra.

Dragan Sremec has recorded many CDs, as a soloist, with the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet, and with the pianist Djordje Stanetti, especially for Croatian Radiotelevision. As a soloist and as a chamber musician he has also premiered some fifty works written by Croat and Slovene composers, most of which were dedicated to him or to the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet.

He has served on the jury of numerous international competitions and has given master classes and seminars in Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, and the United States.

He has also conducted a number of Croatian orchestras: the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra and Choir, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, and the Croatian Army Symphony Wind Orchestra.

Dragan Sremec is currently Professor of Saxophone and Vice-Dean of the Zagreb University Music Academy.

Dragan Sremec est diplômé de la Zagreb Academy of Music (classe de Josip Nochta). Il est également diplômé en Direction d'Ensembles (classe d’Igor Gjadrov). Il reçoit ensuite une bourse du Gouvernement français pour étudier avec Daniel Deffayet et une bourse de Fulbright pour étudier avec Eugene Rousseau à l'Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

En tant que soliste, il a remporté le Prix Darko Lukić et d'autres compétitions importantes d'ex-Yougoslavie. Il s'est en outre distingué lors de nombreux concours avec le Zagreb Saxophone Quartet.

Ses performances de soliste l'ont amené à jouer un peu partout dans le monde: Autriche, Belgique, Bosnie-Herzégovine, Canada, Croatie, Danemark, Russie, USA, Italie,... De même, il se produit avec bon nombre d'orchestres, groupes, ensembles et solistes de renom.

Dragan Sremec est le fondateur du Zagreb Saxophone Quartet. Depuis plusieurs années, il est également le saxophoniste principal du Zagreb Philharmonic et du Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra.

Dragan Sremec a enregistré de nombreux CD's, en soliste, avec le Zagreb Saxophone Quartet et le pianiste Đorđe Stanetti, notamment pour la Radio-Télévision Croate. On lui doit aussi, comme soliste et musicien de musique de chambre, la création d'une cinquantaine d'œuvres écrites par des compositeurs croates et slovènes. La plupart de ces œuvres ont été dédicacées à ce saxophoniste croate ou au Zagreb Saxophone Quartet.

Il a été invité comme juré de concours internationaux et a donné des master classes et séminaires en Croatie, Slovénie, Espagne et Etats-Unis.

Il a aussi dirigé différents orchestres croates: Zagreb Philharmonic, Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra and Choir, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Army Symphony Wind Orchestra.

Pour l'heure, Dragan Sremec est Professeur de Saxophone et Vice-Doyen de la Zagreb University Music Academy.
